Julia, Casual-Chic
With a passion for Culture and Art, Julia had made the most of her Hong Kong life with a Chic and Casual style at the French May.
Describe your style:
“Casual-Chic”: I know it sounds contradictory but that is how I would define my style, as I always try to mix smart and sophisticated clothes (like a silk blouse or tailored slacks) with something more informal (like sneakers). I wear dressy and trendy outfits with a more casual twist: for instance, my perfect match would be an elegant black dress with a leather jacket or a feminine trench coat with a sweater, jeans, and high heels.
What is your favourite outfit of the moment?
My favorite outfit of the moment is loose trousers with a black lace blouse and high heels. I love the feeling of the silk pants and I find the combination with the lace top elegant and sophisticated.
Your dream-outfit or fashion accessory:
I am in love with the dresses designed by Elie Saab. My dream would be a long dress in pastel tones, with luxury lace and pearls.
Ring: Uber Tunique
Rond pattern bracelet: bought in Le Marais area in Paris
The Roxy Watch, Marc Jacobs
Something you will never wear
Flatform shoes. I know it is super trendy but I just find them ugly.
Ring: gift from my boyfriend Antoine, Guess
Golden Jonc, Atelier de Famille
Golden shoes, Jonak
Your beauty secret:
I love the hair mask Karite Nuit Capillaire by Rene Furterer. This great mask instantly nourishes and restructures my hair and give them shine and softness. And the fact that it is a night mask is so convenient.
Street art canvas, offered by the artist (Natsy)
Black lace top, Zara
Paolo black trousers, Karl Marc John
Your favourite restaurant in Hong Kong:
The Optimist, a tapas restaurant in Wan Chai. I love the comfy atmosphere, the decoration and the music. And the food is amazing: I tried every single dish of the menu and each time it is a delight. Please don’t miss the risotto, the tuna tartare or the creamy mozzarella!
Orange dress, Maje
Purse, bought at the Lady’s Market
Cushion cover, H&M Home
Your favourite destination in Asia and your best souvenir there:
Viet Nam. It was my first trip in Asia and I fell in love with the people, landscapes, and food. If you want to eat fresh healthy food with perfect seasoning: go to Vietnam. My best memory is definitely the cruise I made in Halong Bay. The sunset on the islands was breathtaking!
Large cuff, Hipanema
Your favourite place in Hong Kong?
I love the place where I live, between Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun. There is a very special atmosphere, with a lot of trendy shops and nice restaurants and bars. You don’t really feel you are in Hong Kong. But my favorite place is definitely Tai Long Wan beach. I discovered this place at the very beginning of my stay and nothing has overridden this beautiful beach. I love the colors, the tranquility and the sea. It is like a haven of peace away from the busy city.
Special question: Your last purchase?
I bought a bikini at COS. The style is classical but I fell for its bright red color and the very nice fabric.
