Flying Pig, Sai Ying Pun
We had a dinner at Flying Pig with our friend A. and one of her friends visiting Hong Kong 2 weeks ago to celebrate her new #job. I’ve heard about this bistro quite a few times and wanted to try it myself. The Chef is Polish, and the venue was attentively decorated in a cool urban style. If you go for dinner, they have a very good deal with their dinner set that includes a starter, a main course and a dessert for something around HKD 250.
Beef tenderloin
I took the creamy pumpkin soup as a starter, which was pretty good. We shared for the main course one organic rib eye steak and one beef tenderloin with L. The beef tenderloin was truly #amazing (tender and melt meat) that you can pair with fresh garlic if you like that and other toppings. The downside was the size of the piece which was too small I think. The rib eye steak was good too, yet a little bit drier.
A.’s friend wanted to eat some #pork (who can blame him in a restaurant with this name?) and add a delicious crispy pork belly, one of the house’ recommendation.
For dessert, we all took the chocolate cake, which was too dry I thought and not really tasty, unfortunately. You have the opportunity to #pair your dinner with a glass of house wine for a small $55 which is great.
The decoration adds to the #charm of this nice bistro, which you can’t really classify as French or Polish or something else (they define themselves as “European comfort food”). If you decide to go, please eat some meat as it would be a shame to go for the fish or seafood options when the meat is so good and – we must admit – not really common in Hong Kong.
