Djapa, Wan Chai
This month, I’m talking about Djapa, a colorful restaurant nested on Lee Tung Avenue, in the heart of Wan Chai. A Brazilian-Japanese cuisine is featured there with wonderful cocktails and tasty kind of tapas.
I love the decoration there: #bright colours everywhere, with mosaic style and even a big mosaic sculpture on the first floor. You may not agree with me, but the style reminds me of the artist Niki de Saint Phalle, one of my favourite artists.
We had fun discovering our cocktails. My friend Laure took something with rum and I took a ‘Geisha’ cocktail which was served… with an underwater wrapped around it. It was a gin-tonic-inspired drink and it succeeded in keeping the traditional taste while innovating with more sugar and with Brazilian-like flavours.
The food we shared was succulent. I particularly recommend ‘Kagoshima’ (ribeye rolls), mixed mushrooms, ‘Feijoada’ (pork & beef stew with orange, beans, and plantain) and the snapper ceviche with passion fruit lime and sweet potato chips.
They have a discovery menu which I think can be useful if you want to have an extensive overview of what can be served there, but it comes with an expensive price (I think it was around HK$450/500).
Enjoy!
