Chesa, Tsim Sha Tsui

Feb 14, 2018

<p style=”text-align: justify;”>This fooding post is a little bit special as it will feature the places we’ve been for our 3-year anniversary with L. <3 (The Woods and Chesa) What can I say is that this night was full of good surprises and placed under the sign of #France and cheese, maybe because it is where we met.

<p style=”text-align: justify;”>First of all, we celebrated on the D-Day (February, 2nd) at The Woods, an intimate cocktail bar which also happens to serve cheese and cold-cuts boards. I’ll make a dedicated post about it but what I can say for now is that the place is very cost and has a nice selection of cocktails, even if we took glasses of red wine to pair with the cheese.

It was better to properly celebrate the #anniversary on Saturday night, so I waited the next day to know where I was going to spend the night (#surprise). I was so excited to see our taxi stopped in front of the wonderful Peninsula hotel in TST!

<p style=”text-align: justify;”>The first stop was at ‘The Bar’, a confidential hotel bar full of dark green on walls and comfy leather chairs. The best barman of Hong Kong is supposed to work here but we didn’t have the chance to meet him. We had yet 2 tasty cocktails: ‘Aphrodite’ for me, with peach puree, pear syrup and vodka (very sweet as I like them) and ‘Potion N9’ for L. with fresh lychees, cranberry juice and grapes muddled.

<p style=”text-align: justify;”>Then, the highlight of the night: Chesa restaurant with a very typical Swiss atmosphere and a spectacular fondue we shared. I got the feeling we were dinning in a mountain chalet, all the more comfy as the weather was freezing this night. We took the classic one with gruyere and vacherin fribourgeoise fondue cheese. A glass of Riesling to pair with was the perfect match even if we also tried the Peninsula wine (yes, they have their own…) which was less dry and more fruity. To finish on a lighter note, here is the chocolate mousse, very delicate and tasty.

The service was -as expected- flawless and the night charming. If you feel nostalgic about France and its fine food, have a warm-up reminder at Chesa!
