Photoshoot Day at Choi Hung Estate
Last year, we had some fun with my friends Stella, Heeyoun and Jun, playing the models in two famous instagrammable spots during a sunny day all around Hong Kong. I wanted for a long time to go to Choi Hung Estate and have my own super-local photo in front of the rainbow building.
First, we went to have a brunch at Catch, a casual place for Western brunch in Kennedy Town (think avocado toasts and healthy muesli bowls). After filling-up our bellies with delicious smoothies, we decided to join our friend Heeyoun and to add another Instagram spot to our journey: the swimming shed.
I had been to the famous Kennedy Town swimming shed during my first year in Hong Kong but it was fun to go back with the girls some years later. The sun light was perfect for taking pictures, and so did many people think as it was quite crowded. We had to wait for a good 30 minutes before being able to go on the small wood bridge.
Then, the adventure continued with a long journey (by taxi) to Choi Hung Estate. We thought it would be easy to get there, however, none of us spoke Cantonese and the estate is quite big so it was hard to find THE colourful building. Fortunately, we found a young girl who obviously understood where we were headed.
For this dedicated photo shooting session, I was wearing my favourite clothes combination for sweet winter time: a pair of thick black shorts with tights, a thick red pullover, a pair of black sleepers I got for Christmas and my favourite bag at the moment from the newly-discovered brand Charles & Keith. The outfit in overall is very convenient for this kind of weaver: you can have a lighter t shirt under your pull-over for when it gets warmer, and the combination tights + shorts is perfect for the temperature.
The journey back was pretty long too as we took two buses, but we were so glad to have experienced this must-do activity in Hong Kong and had so much fun. We promised to organize other days like this one to discover other spots, and I am looking forward to those.
Choi Hung MTR Station and then walk for 7 min. When you enter the Estate, find the car park and go on its rooftop to get the famous view on the rainbow building.
