Pirata, Wan Chai

Sep 18, 2017

Pirata is a lovely restaurant where the sweet yet busy ambience of Hong Kong meets Italian delicacies. For the second time this year, we had dinner there and we were not disappointed by the quality of the food and had a great moment.

We were 13 to have dinner there in September for the birthday of M. and so had a big table booked for us. We were quite surprised when we were first asked to all order the same type of menu: either the dinner menu or a la carte, and not to be allowed to take whatever we wanted… After 5 minutes of negotiations, we won and had a wonderful dinner and tried many things.

Pasta dishes were especially good. Mine was black truffle tagliatelle and was very tasty. Other dishes we ordered included one risotto with pumpkin and sausage, the butchers’ cut and lamb shank. Some friends took the menu (To share, HKD 500 per person) and it was very large for two people.

A set of mini desserts was bought for the birthday girl and so we had the opportunity to try panna cotta, chocolate mousse, and other sweet things I can’t remember.

Other small disappointment: when the bill arrived for 13 people, only 3 could pay by credit cards. We visited their terrace which has a nice view on surrounding rooftops and some friend enjoyed one last cognac at their nice bar with modern decorative touches.
