Plato 86, Wan Chai

Apr 11, 2018

The restaurant describes itself as ‘a new modern spot located in the heart of Wan Chai, serving traditional Spanish cuisine with modern touches’. I landed at Plato86 on 2 occasions: first with friends and then over a lazy weekend with L. The restaurant is quite cozy and extremely pleasant if you have the chance to go there for a late and sunny brunch. It is what we did in December and beginning of this year.

We took the lunch menu every time and I found it a really good value for the price. Prices differ according to the main dish you take but it does not exceed HK$208 for the set lunch overall, and dishes are more around HKD150 on average.

The Appetizers

We took the black truffle and mushroom soup and the steak tartare (tapas). Unfortunately, I can’t exactly remember the ones we took back in December but they look like croquetas and scallops tapas.

Main Courses

Here I am featuring seafood paella, Iberico pork cheek, and grilled sirloin steak.

Desserts and Sangria

You can indulge yourself with some churros for dessert to dip in dark chocolate sauce (+HKD 20 in the lunch menu). I can’t remember their Happy Hour deal but all I know is that it is really a good deal. The location the on Wan Chai walking platforms is also great as you can feel you are out of the busy city for the time of your lunch or evening break.

Don’t forget a glass of Sangria to really feel like in Spain and of course… a pair of sunglasses. Enjoy Plato 86!
