TWG, Central

Mar 5, 2018

Today, we are going to take a nice break. We all know we love to discover new restaurants and original things to do in Hong Kong but sometimes, it is just super good to just stop for 30 minutes or 1 hour and enjoy to be quiet. And for this, TWG is one of the perfect places.

I had the pleasure to enjoy this tea time with L’s parents who were here for this Chinese New Year’s holidays. You can choose from a diversified list of tea time packages what would be the best for you. We chose the lighter one called ‘1837’ with hot tea, 2 baked scones, and 2-infused macarons. I took a peach tea which smells very good but was quite disappointing when drinking it. The choices of L’s parents were far better and tastier: French Earl Grey and Orange Blossom.

It was a true pleasure to take the team to IFC TWG shop: with all the vintage-looked boxes of tea and the wooden furniture and immaculate white tablecloths, you have the feeling you are back in the early 1900s, hanging there with your family before coming back home to get prepared for a ‘colonial’ ball (ok, I’m going too far but I’ sure you can catch how I felt this way).

I was luckier on the choice of macarons when taking the raspberry and vanilla. Other flavours we ordered included matcha tea, salty caramel, and rose. Of course, the tea jelly and whipped cream were marvelous: so airy and light, softly melting with the hot tea.

Be aware that it is a famous and good place so be sure to take your time and be prepared to wait before being installed if you go on weekends or on a Public Holiday. The staff is caring and thoughtful, and you can even buy what you liked from the shop. Loooovely (pronounce this with a pure British accent like the one of Claire Foy in the ‘The Crown’ TV Show that I just finished watching recently).
