Westwood Carvery, LKF

Oct 12, 2017

As October was the birthday months for most of our friends, we tried Westwood Carvery for M. and V. birthdays as M. is fond of squids and she had spotted this product on their menu a while ago. It is a steakhouse and wine bar showcasing a casual American cuisine dining with a speciality for pork and beef #ribs.

I found the venue quite small and dark at night but there is a nice wall full of wine bottles on one side of the restaurant. As we were 8, we chose one of the dinner sets with wine pairing menu (3 wines for 3 dishes) which was a good value deal compared to the usual prices of the menu which is quite expensive.

We shared fried calamari (M. was overjoyed), jumbo prawns, steamed fresh mussels and avocado wontons. The starter soup was okay and the rosé quite refreshing. The star of the night was the ribs: beef ribs – it was the first time I tried this) and baby back rib (good but quite fatty).

One of the advantages of this restaurant is that you can bring your own cake for a birthday celebration, what we did with a chestnut cake. The staff is pretty friendly, but we left at 11:30 pm and seemed relieved to let us go …

One week later, I randomly came back with my work team for the set lunch. Here again, if you want a small restaurant with a good value set lunch, you found the right place. For a starter, a drink and a really good and large prime rib “dip” sandwich (I couldn’t finish) with nice French friends, it amounts to HKD 130. Don’t hesitate and try it once, especially when you’re working in Central/LKF for a team meeting or a business lunch.
